The reason for this short article is to take a quick snap shot of the thought process of pioneers and how they think. They have a unique view of the world and i think we can all learn a great deal from reading and watching their triumphs and failures .Here are a few pioneers who give great inspiration and a couple of great quotes worth pondering. First let me introduce James Allen  one of my favorite writers ;

James Allen (28 November 1864 – 24 January 1912) was a British philosophical writer known for his inspirational books and poetry and as a pioneer . His best known work, As a Man Thinketh, has been mass-produced since its publication in 1902. It has been a source of inspiration to many especially modern day motivational writers and speakers.

I have read and listened to  As a Man Thinketh  many times i recommend everyone should have a look or listen at least once.

Many years ago back 89/90 i spent a lot of time in India and Thailand and for a while imersed myself in the teaching of meditation . I have never forgoten a thai monk who i spent some time with …here are three things he told me that wise old man;

1) You become what your thoughts are so tread carefully and be mindful to meditate daily to gain some control over the negative chatter.

2) Change your thoughts and in turn change your nature for you will surprise yourself and be free and happy in any environment..

3) Always remember when you pick up a stick you pick up both ends.

Number.. (3).. took me a while to understand and in my humble opinion is full of  great wisdom. I remember contemplating for weeks and months whilst traveling what did he really mean with that simple sentence.Then one day it hit me! with every decision or choice we make in life we must accept the responsibility for where ever it might lead, With every thing we pick up in life there is a good end and a bad end. Acceptance and tolerance with our thoughts and re- actions that we make is our choice and we should never look for blame . We are where are because of ‘our’past decisions and thoughts.

A couple of very interesting pioneers with a great attitude to life.

There has to be this pioneer, the individual who has the courage, the ambition to overcome the obstacles that always develop when one tries to do something worthwhile, especially when it is new and different. …….. ‘ Alfred P Sloan’

It is not easy to be a pioneer – but oh, it is fascinating! I would not trade one moment, even the worst moment, for all the riches in the world.
